With over 27 years of experience in the energy sector and as Chief Executive Officer of H Cycle, a pioneering force in renewable hydrogen production, Brandon brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of delivering exceptional results and maximizing shareholder value. At H Cycle, he is thrilled to lead the production of renewable, low-carbon hydrogen through an innovative non-combustion process that diverts organic waste away from landfills.

His extensive experience as a business executive in the energy sector and expertise in commercial operations and corporate/business development are aimed towards cultivating partnerships with stakeholders across all levels to foster collaboration and achieve shared business objectives. His career achievements include both high-level strategic planning and attention to crucial details, which resulted in driving notable growth in competitive markets.

Throughout his career, he has been drawn to opportunities that involve complex problem-solving and building coalitions to make meaningful changes that achieve impactful goals. He is proud to lead H Cycle, a company dedicated to addressing the intricate challenge of reducing emissions and creating a cleaner, greener planet for future generations.

With over 20 years of commercial and operational experience in the energy sector, Matt Franzen has an extensive and diverse background with expertise in engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations. Throughout his decades-long career, he has overseen the execution of over $1.5B of new, midstream infrastructure projects. Matt is a strategic leader who values integrity and collaboration to ensure a seamless flow of fast-paced operating environments.

Matt’s hands-on leadership style has enabled him to build high-performing, cross-functional teams dedicated to achieving positive results and delivering projects on time and on budget. He has also created and championed policies and procedures that prioritize safety and environmental management.

Before his current role at H Cycle, Matt served as Chief Operations Officer for Evolution Midstream, a full-service, private midstream company that provides innovative solutions across traditional mainstream and sustainable energy values chains. At Evolution, he executed short and long-term plans in the engineering and operations of midstream assets in Wyoming.

In his current position at H Cycle, Matt oversees daily business operations, collaborating closely with the team to reinforce the organization’s day-to-day functions. He also implements policies and best practices that drive H Cycle towards achieving its objective of mitigating the global waste issue and producing low-carbon hydrogen for sectors that face challenges in reducing carbon emissions.

Matt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Tulsa and a Master of Business Administration from Oklahoma State University.

Scott Gardner has 30 years of experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors, focused on investments, project finance, and project development. His career has spanned projects and transactions in diverse areas including conventional and renewable power, renewable fuels, waste-to-energy, carbon capture and sequestration, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and midstream, and ports and transportation. Scott is responsible for driving new business development and commercial transactions for H Cycle, including siting, waste sourcing, and hydrogen sales and contracting, as well as joint venture initiatives in Japan and Korea. He also supports the company’s financing and regulatory initiatives.

Previously, Scott was President of Gardner Infrastructure Advisors, a consultancy that advised infrastructure funds and strategic companies on investments and development projects in the renewables space. Prior to that, he was a Senior Vice President in Private Infrastructure at Partners Group, a Swiss private equity firm, where he led Partners Group’s investment in, and served on the board of, Superior Pipeline Company, a natural gas midstream business, as well as its proposed acquisition of the second largest energy-from-waste business in the US. Prior to joining Partners Group, Scott developed LNG infrastructure projects, including LNG marine terminals and customized fuel delivery systems, for Oaktree Highstar’s portfolio company WesPac Midstream. Before WesPac, he was a Managing Director with US Renewables Group, a renewable energy-focused private equity firm, where among other transactions, he led an investment in Novo Development, a developer of waste-to-power projects. Prior to USRG, he held various roles in mergers and acquisitions, project development, asset management, and business restructuring over 12 years with global electricity company AES Corporation.

Scott holds an MBA in Finance from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and an AB with honors in engineering and environmental studies from Dartmouth College. 

Taylor Huff has more than 10 years of experience in the hydrogen and energy industry. He brings a diverse mix of commercial and technical acumen in project development, technology commercialization, new venture/concept development and asset mergers and acquisitions.

As co-founder and ex-CEO of EvolOH, he built an electrolyzer technology platform which is funded by Breakthrough Energy and ARPA-E. Prior to that, Taylor started his career at BP developing projects across the USA and Latin America, including assets where natural gas is supplied to produce hydrogen for ammonia and methanol plants. At BP, he also supported successful M&A to develop new business units in Mexico and Brazil.  

Taylor holds an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management, an M.S. Engineering from Stanford University and a B.S. Chemical Engineering from University of Oklahoma.

With over 10+ years of policy and government relations experience advocating on multi-state clean energy policy, Quentin Foster has sought ways to shape public policy that is more equitable and solution oriented, having had experience with environmental justice before it was recognized in CA state policy.

Some of Quentin’s accomplishments include his work with multiple interest groups that led to the passage of the very ambitious climate goals in SB 32 (Pavley) that set a target for a reduction in GHG emissions to under 40% of 1990 levels by 2030. As Director, CA Climate for the Environmental Defense Fund, he worked tirelessly with multiple environmental coalitions to help extend the state’s landmark climate policy, Cap and Trade Program, AB 398 (E.Garcia), to 2030, and also helped pass an air pollution law, AB 617 (C. Garcia), the first such law in the nation designed to track multiple sources of local pollution, mitigating adverse public health impacts to communities disproportionately burdened by pollution.

More recently he served the state as Director, External Affairs for the California Independent System Operator, the energy grid operator for 84 percent of the state’s electricity market which includes parts of Nevada. Further developing a sense for the importance of resource diversification, Quentin helped to lead the organization through some of its most difficult moments in recent memory as California grappled with the impact on its energy grid from the effects of climate change. His latest efforts have seen him join H Cycle, LLC, a company focused on participating in the burgeoning green hydrogen industry.

Robert Brasington is the Directory of Technology and Principal Process Engineer at H Cycle.  Previously, he was Head of Carbon Capture Technologies at Denbury, helping to direct investment in emerging capture technologies, and was lead process engineer for carbon capture and sequestration projects in the portfolio.  Robert has also held various roles at the NREL and NETL at the Department of Energy, specializing in advanced fuels/specialty chemicals production from biomass and advanced power generation with CCS.  He has a MS from MIT in Engineering Systems and a BS from the University of Pittsburgh in Chemical Engineering.

As a Development Manager at H Cycle, Megan Good is leading the process of obtaining local, state, and federal regulatory approval for construction and operations of the renewable hydrogen production facility sited in Pittsburg, CA. Her role requires coordinating diverse multi-stakeholder engagement to ensure the development of projects that provide environmental and economic benefits for the local communities.

Megan has more than 5 years of experience overseeing and implementing CEQA/NEPA compliance in collaboration with government agencies and public utilities. Previously, as an environmental consultant and project manager, Megan conducted environmental assessments, public outreach programs, and land planning analyses for the development of energy infrastructure projects across the U.S.

Megan holds a B.S. in Biology from Stanford University.

Phil Coconcea is a Commercial Manager at H Cycle, specializing in commercial diligence and finance. Prior to joining H Cycle, Phil managed a $256M private equity portfolio of distributed generation solar assets, with previous experience in accounting and finance. Phil received his B.S. in Business Administration, Finance from American University and is a CFA Level III candidate.
