Unlocking Renewable Hydrogen from Waste
The 26th United Nations Conference of Parties (“COP26”) emphasized that methane reduction is a global priority in the battle against climate change. H Cycle offers a sustainable, scalable solution to this objective. Read more about the COP26 Summit announcement here.
By extracting hydrogen from solid waste, we significantly contribute to landfill diversion and methane reduction targets, an urgent climate change priority.
Global generation of municipal solid waste is expected to grow 70% from ~2 billion tonnes today to 3.4 billion tonnes by 2050, owing to population growth, urbanization and economic development.
Waste disposal currently accounts for ~3% of global greenhouse gas (“GHG”) emissions, primarily from uncaptured methane released from organics degradation in landfills. Methane is a potent GHG, 28x stronger than carbon dioxide and accounts for over 30% of global warming.
